Below is a list of frequently asked questions that you can read through to give you a better idea of what to expect and answer any similar questions you might have:
Therapy is a great tool that can be used to better understand ourselves and manage our mental health. Working with a therapist allows you to talk to someone who understands you, your symptoms, and experience. Participation in therapy can help you make purposeful changes to better your emotional health.
You do!
We will never tell you it’s time to end our work together. When you feel ready to stop, you will let us know.
Life has its ups and downs and so does our mental health. You might find yourself at some point in your life in need of returning to therapy. We will be happy to work with you again.
Absolutely not. There might be times when you come in with a list of things to discuss, and other times, you might have no idea what we will be talking about. There are no expectations for you to be ready for before attending a session, we just want you to show up with whatever is on your mind that day.
Every individual is different. We have an accumulation of strategies, treatment modalities, clinical approaches, assessments, measures, and tools that we interchangeably use based on your own unique needs, personality, and what you bring into the session. We do not have a specific formula that we use on all clients. Every treatment plan is individually designed.
You can ask us anything. If we feel that answering your question would help develop or deepen the therapeutic alliance or is beneficial for you, then we will answer your question. If for any other reason we cannot, then we will let you know.
Our goal is to see you get the support you need. If you are looking for a specialized approach that we are not trained in, we will refer you to someone else who does.
If we had a money jar at the office and put a dollar in every time we heard someone say this, we would be millionaires by now!
There are so many reasons why you might minimize you pain and experiences when relating them to others, however, no matter how you minimize your struggle, it does not change the way your brain makes meaning of these events and experiences resulting in the impact in has on your mental health. Your struggle is real, let’s not minimize it but give it the attention it needs.
We have chosen this career path because of our empathy towards peoples lived experiences. Caring about those we work with is at the core of why we do what we do. Watching them overcome challenges and thrive is what makes our job so rewarding.
